Intern Spotlight: Ashley, Regional Finance Intern
I am a rising junior at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in finance. This summer I am interning as a finance intern on the agency economics team in the Texas Region!
I heard about Allstate through my brother who started at Allstate as an intern and now works here full-time. Interning at Allstate has been a great experience because I am able to work on different projects and build my leadership skills.
My main project this summer is working on sales reporting for the Texas region. I support the Texas sales leaders by analyzing the data and helping them understand how to best use it to drive results. It has been such a great experience to lead big projects like this on my own.
Going into my internship, I was not sure what to expect because everything is virtual this summer. Being at home and not meeting your coworkers in person seemed daunting at the beginning, but my team has been so welcoming and open to helping me. I have had so many opportunities to learn from my team and responsibilities within my team as well.
The Finance department has provided trainings for all of the finance interns to support our professional development and help us build technical skills that we will use moving forward in our careers. In additional I’ve felt super supported because another analyst on my team is my mentor. They support me when I have questions about the work, or even just the department.
There have also been weekly intern activities, which allows me to learn more about Allstate and network with other teams. I have not had a dull moment since my internship started! I’ve gotten to meet all of the other interns in our cohort and learn about what they are doing. Allstate set up this intern experience with us in mind and have really given us the tools to succeed. The intern cohort feels like a community and its been great to share this experience with people going through the same thing as me.
Overall, Allstate provided so many resources and made the virtual internship so inclusive. I truly feel like part of the team and am fortunate to have learned so much this summer.
